I was rewarded for my efforts with a nice visit to the weigh-in scale. 239 lbs. Back into the thirties. The juicing is going well overall. I enjoy making the juice and drinking it. It is time-consuming, however. I have to gather all the veggies together, wash them, cut the celery stalks, quarter the apple into slices, and peel the orange, grapefruit, and lemon. Finally I juice it, which is the fun part. Then I have to clean the juicer, which is my least favorite part, and then I need to clean up the kitchen, put the leftover junk in the garbage disposal, etc. To make my 3 cups of juice only takes about 20 solid minutes but it seems longer in the morning when you need to move things along. Energy level is still really good. My weight bench awaits me in the garage. I want to start working out three times per week, but will probably only do so twice this week. When I was working out regularly in 1999-2000 (so long ago!) I followed the template described in the popular Body For Life book and it worked great for me. The Body For Life diet is similar to Dean's diet in that you eat many small meals per day instead of three major ones, but it's less strict with regards to what you can eat (for example, more meat.) I'm convinced this is the right way to eat -- it's hard to really accept it until you experience it, but to have more energy and lose weight you need to eat a lot of food. Starve yourself, and you'll lose.]]> admin <![CDATA[Day 16 - 240 lbs.]]> http://bodytransforming.com/2008/07/21/day-16-240-lbs/ 2008-07-21T17:31:27Z 2008-07-21T17:29:54Z ]]> admin <![CDATA[Veggies!]]> http://bodytransforming.com/2008/07/20/veggies/ 2008-07-20T17:02:19Z 2008-07-20T17:02:19Z That's everything that goes into my veggie drink. You dump all that stuff in the juicer, spin it up, and at the end you're left with a great-tasting drink. How could that medley taste great, you ask? Well, I was skeptical too. The full ingredient list:
• Carrots (5 large)
• Celery (2 large stalks)
• Tomato (1)
• Broccoli (chopped)
• Parsley
• Orange (peeled)
• Apple (whole)
• Grapefruit (peeled)
• Lime (peeled)
• Lemon (peeled)
• Spinach (chopped or whole leaves)
The taste is hard to describe but once you have a sip you will definitely want more. My only concern is that a lot of vegetable pulp is left over in the juicer after I make this drink, so I wonder if I don't need to keep eating raw veggies throughout the day (carrot sticks and broccoli are my favorite) to compensate.]]>
